¶ Downloading the Game Client

Or, you can download the game client by simply creating an account on Battle.net and download the 11.1.0 version of World of Warcraft. However, doing this at a later date than this post will maybe result in not getting the exact version that is supported by TrinityCore master branch and you won't be able to connect to Exodus.
Note that the game client is about 96GB and will take some time to download from any source.
¶ First Run of the Game
Once you have the game you will notice the file/folder structure has changed quite a bit from the 3.3.5a client.
This is what you will see in your World of Warcraft installation directory:
DO NOT USE THE BLIZZARD LAUNCHER
If you do, the game will potentially update to a version that you will not be able to rollback and that you cannot use on Exodus. If that happens, you will have to delete the whole installation directory and re-download the client files from scratch from the link here
- To start the game in 11.x (Check the top of this post for exact version currently supported on Exodus Alpha) you MUST use the provided custom launcher inside the _retail_ folder:

Make sure you put it inside the _retail_ folder (see image above)
This will open a window that patches the game to be able to connect to Exodus Servers and then automatically close itself and launch the game.
You will get this window on first run, you MUST select English (US)
And confirm in the next window:
The game will start after this….
CLOSE THE GAME
DO NOT start the game yet!
Yes, simply close the game after this and follow the next steps in this guide.
¶ Setting up the Config.wtf
Now open the WTF folder and you will see a Config.wtf file.
Edit this file with any note editor:
Look for the line:
SET portal "US"
And change it to:
SET portal "login.exodus-server.org"
Save the file.
¶ Request Login account
For the moment, there is no way to automatically link your main Exodus account to the 11.x server.
Therefore, when you are ready, please send a DM to Minadude on discord.
- In your DM please include the login name of your Exodus WOTLK account.
If you are a new player, please create an account on the website first, then, join the Discord server, then request login to 11.x

This server is considered in alpha/beta state. It is currently being worked on by the TrinityCore team. Although we will periodically update it, we will not support any issues encoutnered on this server.You may encounter missing content, bugs, crashes, or broken systems like spells, game mechanics or other.
We do not support any of these issues on Exodus and will not resolve any broken content. You can report any issue directly to the TrinityCore team on Github:

If you have followed this guide, you should now have everything ready to connect to the Alpha Server.
Simply start the Arctium Game Launcher once again (See the first section in this guide) and login with your new account once you have received the crednetials.
PRO TIP
Check the "Remember Account" checkbox before you click on the login button for quicker login process next time
¶ Creating a new character
When you login you will see the Exodus Alpha realm in the list to select
You can then start creating your retail characters
The new character creation is very detailed and diverse with all classes and races from all retail expansions!
¶ Starting Zone
In retail, you have the Exile's Reach starting zone and your selected class starting zone.
Both should give you a different experience
